5 New (but random) Style Icons

Well first off, apologies for the lack of posts the past few months.  Things have been a bit crazy here and there are some BIG decisions being made!  More on that a little later.

Anyway, it’s Resort season, which means new Style Icons!  Here’s a little edited version of what’s been going on over at TSI.

Cubism

Vintage Fortune Teller Machines

Style Icon: Cubism

It’s been a while since I posted a Style Icon, but it’s now Resort 2012 time, so I thought I’d better get busy! First up, Oscar de la Renta’s new collection, which I’m 99% sure he must have based on the Cubist movement, pioneered by  Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque.

Style Icon Weekly Update

A few new ones over at THERSIC Style Icons!  Have a great weekend, everyone!

- The Paperboy

-The Wizard of Oz

- My Dad & Brother

Style Icon: House Beautiful Magazine from the 1970′s

I posted this a few days ago over at THERSIC Style Icons, but it’s been a busy week, so it’s my only weekly update!  :/

Don’t ask why, but I have a small collection of  House Beautiful Magazines from the 1970′s.  They sit in a box with some other junk and I don’t really look through them often, but they always seem to make the cut whenever I’ve moved.

Anyway, the Fall 2011 collection from House of Holland kind of reminded me of some of the interiors.

Apologies for the slow week in postings, it’s been a bit crazy here!  Here is a little weekly wrap-up of what’s been going on over at THERSIC Style Icons:

Old School Video Games

Mark Warren Jacques

A Few Children’s Book Favorites

The Childlike Empress

Hitchcock Ladies

Clue (Mrs. White)

Ramona Quimby, Age 8

Also, thanks to the folks over at Etsy for featuring one of our favorite TSO’s on their blog!

Style Icon: Sushi

We may have a new home for these, but we thought it might still be nice to post an occasional favorite, along with a weekly round-up of others. My brother challenged me to do a post on sushi (even though he doesn’t even like sushi), so I took him up on it.  I quickly paired it with BCBG Max Azria’s new Fall 2011 Collection.  Yum!

New Home for THERSIC Style Icons!

Sorry for the delay and thanks for bearing with us!

We are happy to announce that we have a new home for our Style Icons on our sister-site: THERSIC Style Icons! Since it’s Fashion Week here in NYC, we didn’t want to overwhelm this blog with Style postings like we did last season, so we’ll be updating them on TSO and doing weekly updates about them here.

We’d also like to add, if you have any suggestions for themes, people, places, or things featured please let us know (via comment or email at kiersten (at) youfail.com)

Style Icon: BIRD by Andrew Zuckerman

As soon as I saw Jean Paul Gaultier’s Spring 2011 Couture line, I immediately thought of the beautiful photographs from one of my favorite books, Bird by Andrew Zuckerman.  When I started matching up birds to specific pieces, I couldn’t seem to stop!  Hence, the lack of editing.

Style Icon: Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?

Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego? Well, in the PreFall line-up at Sonia Rykiel apparently.  Well, the sloppy 2011 version of her anyway.. I feel like she’s got to have more in her suitcase that just that one red trench coat, right?

Style Icon: The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

We did a post about this movie a while back (add it to your Netflix queue if you haven’t seen it already!), and Valentino’s PreFall 2011 Collection made me want to watch it again!
